David (Gill) and I are looking forward to reading our poems alongside ten other poets at The Munnings Museum in Dedham in Essex on Friday 8 September 2017. The evening recital of poetry of the theme of the natural world is being organised by the museum's 2017 Poet-in-Residence, Dr Tim Gardiner.

Barn Owl Poem in Reach Poetry #219

Barn Owl

I am grateful to editor, Ronnie Goodyer, of Indigo Dreams Publishing for including my poem, 'Barn Owl, Flatford', in the December 2016 issue of Reach Poetry. Like most poets I respond to what I see as well as to what I feel, and I well remember the thrill back in 2012 of watching the owl swooping over the snow in this landscape known so well to John Constable.

The photos below were the best I could manage at the time. As you can see, the light had all but gone. But there is something magical about Barn Owls in the snow! 

Ipswich Art Scene (1): The 'John Constable' comes to Suffolk

The Ipswich Waterfront by UCS is soon to be the setting for a renovated 'lighter' that once graced the River Stour in John Constable's day. The boat, part of the 'Managing a Masterpiece' project, will be on public view next Wednesday 29 September 2012. It has fittingly been named the John Constable.
